Newbie_7
Hello, I have a 1987 D penny without a copper coat on it. Is this a mint error or did someone just put it in something to remove the plating?

Newbie_7
Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post. Whoever it was seems to have done a good job on the electro plate.
Coinbuf
It is very easy to tell that the coin is plated because the dings are just as shinny as the areas without any nicks or scrapes, and the zinc core of cents minted after 1982 is not shinny or reflective like this plated coin is. Neither one, a second plating has been put over the copper plating after it left the mint.
