Don't know a whole lot about this coin other than the fact it looks to be in awesome shape considering it's age. Does anyone know why it looks so dark?

I would not spend the money to have this graded/slabbed as I think it will grade as AU details.   From your photos the coin looks to have environmental damage (pitting from corrosion) and I would not rule out the possibility of it having been cleaned at some time in the past.   What do you think the coin grades and why are you considering sending to a TPG?
