Rguy1
Hi, Sharing this one Went to my local bank today and asked for some rolls of coins and came across this. Never saw this one before. it is a large piece of metal (cud?) attached to the rear of her neck Quite a big bump when you touch the coin. Any thoughts? tj96
Welcome! It looks like solder. CUDS are on the rims of the coins. Although, from here it looks like your coin is a wide rim 1979. Can you take a closer picture of the date? Edited February 28, 2022 by tj96 Coinbuf and James Zyskowski
DandelionDagny
As someone who grew up around welders...this looks like someone tried to mig weld on this coin...hence the splatter pattern. I might be wrong, but that is what it looks like to me. James Zyskowski

Coinbuf
This coin was used as a pin or a piece of jewelry, what you see is the solder after the pin mount was removed. James Zyskowski

James Zyskowski
Welcome. I’m with the group. I see solder and looks like a pin was attempted to be affixed or removed,as Coinbuf said👍🏼 I also think it’s a wide rim. Probably had no idea and when they couldn’t get the clasp to stay, I’m guessing they weren’t happy , even worse, removing it to discover its a wide rim. 🙀 Edited March 1, 2022 by James Zyskowski
Rguy1
Ok i am convinced it is solder, what's interesting is that initially I saw the wide rim then saw the solder lol. I will put this in the recirculate pile Thanks for all the help, as the solder threw me off
