Kevine84
Hi I inherited a windfall of Farthings - and I mean a windfall.... I am looking to find the right valuation resource for pricing. There are some really really nice ones... Also if anyone is aware of a way to sell best don't br shy:) Where would you grade this example. Thanks all. I am needing a good base idea so I will be posting a few more. Thank you as always. I definitely appreciate the insight I get here.
Mr.Bill347
There is one on Ebay selling for $
Kevine84
Yes, I saw that and others in dark color too. I see so many ridiculous prices high and low though. I have been told the selling prices are not wise to use if never sold/no bids. Crawtomatic
Kevine84
I see basically a 20$ coin. I agree. I'm posting a 1923 now. It isn't as easy in my mind to compare with ebay for sale coins.
Fenntucky Mike
Fine. A place holder for an album, worth a couple bucks on its best day from what I've seen.
Woods020
It appears it has some environmental issues maybe.
Conder101
Actually the second one is the one with the damage. When this farthing design came out in 1895 and 1896 some scammers were managing to pass off the unfamiliar coins as 1/2 sovereigns. (The British version of the Racketeer nickel.) So partway through 1897 and in all of 1898, 99, 00 and 01 the farthings were deliberately blackened at the mint before they were released. So at some point in the past that second coin was scrubbed to remove the black finish. Woods020
