It’s a decent strike but not proof like to my eye. Looks like it’s seen a little circulation. Probably an AU 55/58. The reverse is much nicer and closer to PL than the obverse.

Unfortunately it is as Woods020 states. Don’t feel too bad, I bought this one at an antique store for $60 a month or so ago and my friends here pointed out to me that I had way overpaid for it. I did the only thing I could do and sold it today on EBay for just $31. We live, we learn! So I enjoyed my $30 crow today but it didn’t taste good. I was just hoping for an MS but was also informed that it was most likely an AU55. My sympathies Anthony.

Good thing it got picked up awhile back ago when it was 18 to 20 a Morgan and I believe I payed 19 for it so with it being au 55/58 it's a little come up I was just wondering if it would be proof like

I'm with Woods.....AU and definitely not PL.  However, in looking at your pictures, it does looked cleaned to me because of the haze around the devices on both sides, but most noticeably on the reverse.  When I worked at the coin shop, I saw a lot of cleaned Morgans with that look.  It could be because of the photos and the coin could look very different if I were to have it in hand, but going on the photos, I think the coin has been cleaned.

Heck of a buy for $19. Even if it is cleaned. Morgans that look they were ran over by a train then Jack hammered off the tracks have been selling for $25-$30 for the last year or so.

So true.  Those 2021 Morgans got a lot of people riled up about the older Morgan and Peace Dollars and prices have been insane!  It's been good for me as some areas I'm very interested in have had much less interest, such as early East German coins.  I've gotten some killer deals on those lately.  A few years ago, those were very hot as far as world coins go, but not so right now.  Which is just fine with me!

For real the hype on those 2021s are ridiculous I seen them selling for 175 and way more to. Me personally I don't like any of the new non circulated style coins especially since there is no history in them.

I understand how you feel, Anthony.  Many people like coins with history.  I do myself.  I've collected ancient Roman coins and I actively collect Canadian and German coins, with a particular affinity for East German coins.  While what I collect is definitely more recent than Morgan Dollars, it definitely is historical.  I think many collectors come into our hobby through a love of history and, often, a particular area of history.

Mutilated. Fields were polished leaving the "haze" surrounding relief and within inscription letters. Ruined as a collector coin and worth melt.

Sorry, but you got taken by "shiny stuff."

Anthony can you post a good pic front and back that is sharply focused? These are just enough out of focus to be tricky. I think you can get a lot better info if you do.

When you shoot a coin straight on it will not show the fine scratch lines from being polishing you have to put it on a bit of a angle to see them. Also I find most polished coins will not have a cartwheel effect at all. If that helps at all Anthony ?
