1889 O Morgan 0

Attached are a few pictures of my 1889 “O” Morgan.  This was from a small collection coins my mom had. What is the general consensus on the grade of this coin?  With my HIGHLY untrained eye, I’m thinking maybe VF…possibly EF?  I don’t think this is the oval “O” either.  Is it worth sending in to have it graded?

Sorry for the bad pictures.  I have not yet invested in a good quality camera.

Well, in looking at your Morgan, I can tell you it's not the Oval O.  As far as grade goes I'm going to go with XF Details because the coin looks like it has some residue on it.  Just my humble opinion, of course.

Humble opinions are perfectly ok with me. I think the residue look might be from the photo editing I did in my feeble attempt to bring out the details. I thought it might have been cleaned at some point, but I was talking to a dealer about a coin he was selling and he said most coins from that era had been cleaned at some point or other.

A lot of coins from that time have been cleaned, that is true, but there are many that haven't been as well.  If your coin was cleaned, that could account for what I was seeing in the photos as well.

From the photos, (much better than many thank you) I'm going to stay conservatives and say VF35 shot at XF.   I would not spend the monies to have this graded unless it was a rare VAM, which I do not think it is.
