brandelee
All along the shirt, under the beard and up to the mouth...there appear to be marks that I think look like they occurred in production vs handling. The back is unmarked. What is your opinion?
l.cutler
Welcome to the forum. That definitely did not happen at the mint, someone just tampered with it. Modwriter
Greenstang
Agree, PMD. You can see zinc showing through where it has been damaged. No way for that to happen during the striking of the coin.
bsshog40
Looks like someone was going to attempt their skills towards a hobo coin and gave up pretty fast. Lol Modwriter

Modwriter
If this cent was sent in for grading, would it be graded P001 or sent back with a no grade? Edited March 30, 2021 by Modwriter Type error

But if the coin was submitted, then I don't see why the request would not be made by NGC. The coin has damage which in a polite term is Details. Plus it is a genuine cent so my guess would be it would holder as Details-Genuine. Edited March 30, 2021 by bsshog40 Modwriter

Never heard of this before and I guess it is a recognized genre of coin collecting. There are actual Lowball Registry sets, mostly coins from the 1800's. About ten years ago a PO01 1897-S Morgan Dollar sold for $565. bsshog40
