Hi, I am a new coin collector for about 3 weeks now and I was wondering if the D in this penny is a double die? If anyone knows please let me know . Thanks

No that is called split plate doubling, it happens when the copper plating of a zinc cent is pulled and shears away leaving the zinc core showing.  It is not valuable just worth one cent; this effect is common with copper plated zinc cents.
