Split serifs on a dime 0

I was gonna just put this under the microscope to look at it and I saw something that I have failed to see before. They jumped out at me. Could it really be split serifs on the top left of E and P? Isn't that a characteristic of a doubled die? 

I am attaching pics although they aren't great, but I am taking care of that soon too. It'll just be a few more days before better pictures I hope.
