I don't know about the die-doubling D -- which I seriously doubt can be detected with a regulation five-to-seven power glass -- but I do see a fallopian tube connecting the I and B in PLURIBUS N/NW of the D mint mark.

I was referring to a D over D. Sorry, might have been confusing the way I wrote it.

Mintmarks were punched separately by hand, so the underlying coin could be normal or a double die and not affect the mintmark.

No, that was my mistake. I guess I am just so accustomed to people asking about doubled dies that my mind just went there automatically.
