Grease, or some other substance, will sometimes fill the letters, numerals, or part of the design in the die, and prevent the flow of metal into the recess. These are called "filled die" or "grease filled die" errors.

Thanks for the help guys! Almost a year ago I purchased some rolls and tubes off of an older gentleman and I'm finding all kinds of interesting coins in them. I'm assuming he either didnt care or just forgot they were mostly error coins.
