I have no clue what happened to this coin, but Lincoln is smiling for whatever.  Hahahaha.  Wondering if the mint tried to destroy this coin. I wouldn't know how or what a coin looks like going through the machine when they decide to destroy coins. Just a suggestion lol.

The Lincoln is just heavily damaged.

Before the Mint sends rejects  to be melted, they put it through a machine that defaces it making it look like a waffle hence the term "Waffle Coin".
