For most of its existance, a "bronze penny" was a "regular penny." From 1962 until the  change to its current composition, (which was done in 1982,) the cent was made of .950 copper and .050 zinc, which is the composition of brass. This composition was also used from 1944-1946.

Bob is absolutely correct.  Your coin is both brass and a regular penny, one of the hundreds of millions of these that the San Francisco Mint turned out in 1968.
