Hinkle
I look at others 2001's and there practically touching. This is more separate than others.
Mohawk
Hello again, I think you have a Close AM. Here's the Variety Plus on the 1998 Wide AM. A 2001 would be the same: https://www.ngccoin.com/variety-plus/united-states/cents/lincoln-cents-memorial-reverse-1959-2008/819107/ Your A and M do have a space, but Close AM's do have a space. The letters don't actually touch. Here's the 1992 Wide AM from Variety Plus: https://www.ngccoin.com/variety-plus/united-states/cents/lincoln-cents-memorial-reverse-1959-2008/819901/ This terminology can be confusing. I find a better diagnostic to be the FG initials by the Memorial. On the Wide AM hub, the FG letters are much closer to the Memorial than on the Close AM hub. You seem to look through a lot of cents, so I'd say the best way to see this is next time you have some cents, set aside a cent from the 1989 to 1991 date range and one from the 1993 to 1997 date range and compare the reverses. You'll see the differences. I hope this helps! ~Tom

Conder101
On a new die the AM on a close AM do almost touch, but if the die gets polished down the space between the A and M gets wider as on your coin. Don't try and judge just by the space between the A and M. On the wide AM the spaces between AM and between ME are equal. On the Close AM the space between AM is noticeable smaller than between ME. Just Bob
Some time back, someone claimed to have discovered a "medium AM" variety - I think on a 1992 Lincoln. Turned out to be a heavily polished die, just as Conder101 described.
