4 posts in this topic

Hello Gang,

If I have learned anything about coin hunting, it has to be, there are so many variables that have to line up to correctly identify the coin.  Having said that it is now time to ask the professionals. ( YOU GUYS ) Here is an image of the coin.  So please can you guys give me your opinions?  Thank You,

Brian

Hi Brian,

That's not the rare Denver Transitional Error.......no D mint mark.  That's a 1982 Philadelphia Small Date cent.....both the copper and zinc composition 1982 Philadelphia Small Date cents are very common.  To be the rare error, the coin has to be a 1982 Small Date with a D mint mark in the copper composition.  If it's missing any of that, it's not the rare one.
