1864 Queen Victoria Githic florin! Thoughts on grade

5 posts in this topic

I vacillate between VF-30 and EF-40. I wonder if there is remaining mint luster, and I think the wear is light but would perhaps just keep it out of EF. Whatever the grade, it's a very appealing piece. Plus, I relearned that a shilling was a twentieth of a pound. Maybe I will remember that detail this time.

I agree with JKK in that I wish I knew if there was any remaining luster on the coin before determining my grade.  However, from the pictures, I'm going to say VF-30.  The wear is light, but definitely too heavy for an XF grade, I would say.  At any rate, that's a very nice piece!
