Coin rare with no date and hard to see what it is? 0

I found this while hiking in Durango, Colorado, have no idea if this is even a coin, can someone help me please?

It looks like the singer Prince's "unpronounceable symbol."

Also, Denise Matthews was the real name of singer Vanity, who worked with Prince, and (I think) had a love affair with him.

Unfortunately, Denise/Vanity died around the same time as Prince.

They seem to be some kind of metal to me, after cleaning it up a bit.

The first picture looks like a piece of lead, and the second looks like the same piece of lead that has been painted gold.

Is the metal soft enough to scratch with a fingernail?

Just cleaned with baking soda and water, no paint.  Really would like a place to take this and find out what metal it is and go from there

Thought I would get intelligent answers from some of you, just crackpots!  I will be taking this to the jewelers and they can determine what kind of metal it is..

I guess it's theoretically possible that medieval Islamic states coins could have found their way to southwestern Colorado, but I think they'd be longshots. What's weird is that the zinc gray piece cleaned off to a brassy hue. I'm not even convinced it's a coin.

Denise, I don't think this is a coin, but it does look like an artifact, so it's worth your sleuthing IMO. A spent bullet perhaps?  Have fun.
