New Overton Variety???

I recently received my submission back, and I paid for the Variety Plus for the Overton listing, and I received back an 1817 designated as an O-108a. Now I am dealing from my third edition but this variety is not listed. Is this a new one? I am thinking this might be an error since there is no spot for this one in the registry either. Please let me know.

Thanks for your question. This variety appeared in the 4th edition. You will also see it listed in the Variety Plus section of the NGC site: 1817 50c O108-a

 

Regarding the registry, I will look into having the variety added to sets where it is eligible. Will be back to you shortly on that.

A slot for the 1817 O108-a has been added to the following set:

Early Half Dollars, 1794-1836, complete by All Overton Varieties and Die States

 

I also have already added your eligible coin there.
