One of the best Benjamin Franklin designs. Done by Christian Gobrecht on the award medal he created for the Franklin Institute and based on a portrait by Thomas Sully. He completed the dies in 1825 and received the grand sum of $100 for his work. The medals were produced for the Franklin Institute by the U.S. Mint. This silver version is 51mm (2 inches).
