I'm sorry, but I always thought that Bela Lyon Pratt did not utilize a model but only scuplted based on his envisioning of the bust. In fact, weren't all Indian busted eagles the same? No model and just the artistic rendition (until you come to modern age and the Sac dollar).

 

If I'm not mistaken about this, then this was a trick question wink.gif

My recollection was that the portrait was a composite of serveral native Americans.

 

In any case we owe a debt of gratitude to Teddy Roosevelt for redesigning our gold coinage during his administration.
