I'm wondering if that spot on the reverse could cause it to not grade at all. I don't have many graded Indian cents but none have the spot. I would be interested in hearing from Indian Cent specialists.

I am not an Indian Cent specialist. However, based on what I can see in the image, it looks like an unsightly stain, which would probably knock at least a point off of the grade. But I don't think it would cause the coin to receive a no-grade/details-grade.

I'm not a specialist, but agree with your comments. The grading services are hit and miss on issues like this. Sometimes the coin will be details graded and others it will be heavily penalized and net graded. In either scenario, it is going to hurt. I have seen coins (admittedly not IHCs) with stains that I found to be less offensive that were in details, stained holders. With that said, neither service seems consistent on the matter IMHO.

It's just where the IHC is toning brown. It's not a stain or carbon spot.
I'm not sure how you can definitively state that. If you look directly below the area of between N and T of CENT you can see what's a different color than the spot. That appears to either be carbon or crud which is most likely the culprit that is causing the spot. If I'm correct, I don't believe the spot is inactive.
