Resized Images Advice

When I upload two images (obverse and reverse) that are roughly the same files size (427 kb for obverse, 442 kb for reverse), the registry resizes the reverse to a smaller dimension, but doesn't resize the obverse's dimensions.

Both images should be 750x750, but the reverse is clearly smaller in dimensions.

 

Any advice as to which file size (kb) to keep the images under to ensure the registry doesn't resize the dimensions (keeps the 750x750)?
