Charmy's 2014 PORTLAND PNNA SHOW REPORT w/lots of Pics!!

3 posts in this topic

I hadn’t been to the Portland PNNA show in a few years mostly due to conflicts with other shows, so I was looking forward to being back in Portland. It’s such a beautiful city with the rivers running through the middle of town and lush green hills and trees all around.

I took a morning flight to Portland on Friday morning since set up wasn’t until 3pm.

It was a beautiful day as we flew past the beautiful snow-capped mountains into Portland.

I checked into the hotel, grabbed some lunch, then went to the conference center to set up my table. I was pleased to see I was given the same table I had a few years ago!

This is a beautiful park right across the street from the hotel/show. It was nice to see such beautiful green trees!

One of my customer, Mark, invited me to join he and his wife and her friend for dinner in downtown Portland. So he drove into the city to Jake’s Crawfish

Cindi Snow Ray (ANACS) joined us too

We chose a nice bottle of wine from the Pacific Northwest.

Several of us had the crab bisque, along with their delicious special parmesan crusted sole

Then of course, some of us couldn’t resist their yummy desserts!

The next morning (Saturday) I woke up to see that it had rained during the night. I haven’t seen the rain in many months and it was so refreshing to see wet pavement and trees for a change! These are photos taken from my room.

My favorite Conder token dealer was set up at he showed me several recently acquired tokens he brought back from England. I wanted them all, but had to restrain myself and bought just a couple of them, including the Middlesex 382 in this photo because it was a much later die state of one that I already had, with shattered dies and cuds all over the piece.

Matt Powell stopped by. In addition to selling coins, Matt also creates state of the art websites. He talked to me about upgrading/updating my website. I like my current website but know that having a more modern website is important, so I’m still considering all the pros and cons.

Since I would only be away from home a couple of days and didn’t have to bring my exhibit with me, I actually had room in my checked bag for a bottle of wine! So I opened up this bottle of Beach House Zinfandel, and after sharing it with a few people, it went fast!

Another dealer had this very cool 80% off center Indian cent, which I couldn’t resist adding to my personal collection.

After the show ended on Saturday, Cindi and I decided to have dinner at the hotel restaurant.

We ran into some of the other dealers from the show. We enjoyed having some drinks together, talked about the coin business, our specialties, etc.

Steve, Dave (Type2fifty), and James (Segoja)

Sunday started out slow, as expected, but it did pick up a little and I made some decent sales. Then soon it was time to pack up and head to the airport and home.

When I arrived at the airport, I found out my flight was delayed about 45 minutes which wasn’t too bad. When our plane arrived, I noticed it looked like a newer model.

Soon the plane was taking off for home – bye- bye Portland!

And yes, busy and crowded Irvine!

The Portland PNNA show was a successful show for me, and I really enjoyed seeing Portland again. N addition to buying lots of raw coins for my inventory, I was especially happy to pick up a couple pieces for my personal collection. I’ll definitely look forward to attending the Portland ANA next March!

So that’s about it – next up will be the Baltimore show in a few weeks. Hope to see some of you there!

Seeing the North-West is one of the few things on my bucket-list.

I always enjoy the selfies of you and Cindi. You two have such radiant smiles, I can never help but smile myself.
