Submission of NGC graded coins for * and PL designations

2 posts in this topic

What is the policy on sending coins in simply for a re-evaluation for * designation. Specidically as an example, all the coins in my signature line are NGC graded with the exception of the green 22D and not a single coin is currently a * which I find surprising. Not to be biased Ive seen other coins seemingly worthy as well. For the record the pictures are very accurate as picture by Todd (Blu-cc) and in the case of the lavender 21 by Shane - Kryptonite comics.

In any case, can coins be sent in strictly for * designation or would that require a full regrade? And what service would that be under and cost?

Similarly what about PL designation where coming close might also warrant a star?

Thank you for the question. If you believe that the coin merits a *, BN, RB, PL, UC or similar designation, you may submit it for our Designation Review service. This service is significantly cheaper than resubmitting the coin as a ReGrade.

NGC will evaluate the coin and determine whether it merits a different designation or a combination of designations (such as PL and *).

Please note that NGC-certified coins submitted for the + designation must be under a ReGrade tier.
