1923 S Peace Dollar - Mint Question

I use the dinolite to look closer at mint on 1923 S Peace Dollar, and I am not sure if it's normal or something? Anyone knows?

Definitely looks odd... I dont know the prevalence of counterfeit 23-S though...

 

Obviously its not a key date so Im not sure why someone would create a fake one or add a mint mark to a 23-P.

Damage, the top of the S has been hit shearing off a small piece of metal and pushing it into the top loop of the S.
