Like alway ---- Searching again!!

 

Friends,

I spent part of the week searching 1971 mint sets --- 18 of them and also looking for a variety in 18 Proof Ikes I got in a trade. Well as I thought,43 years after the sale of these Ikes I would not find a variety. One thing I surely got that they could not find on the 1971 proofs 43 years ago is "The Ike Blues".

The red flakes on the picture are felt hairs from the mint package that have fallen loose due to age.

That is a great coin... can you remove the red flakes without losing the blue toning?

Rick, is it common for just the flat field of a coin to tone with the raised areas staying nice and shinny silver?

Jack, the lint is on the outside of the mint package holder.

Michael, When the coin has a sharp UC all the strong white over rides the blue. The less ultra cameo the less white you will have. Of the 10 blues I have this one was the winning pic for the journal. All of them are different in their own blue hazy way.

The blue toning is all over on most of them but I have 2 that the toning pics looked great, and this is one of them.
