1946 Lincoln Cent - GTG - Grade Revealed

9 posts in this topic

Just curious your thoughts as to grade. I'll tell you this much it's in a PCI gold slab at the moment. I have an opinion of the "real" grade - just wanted to see if you all concur.

My photography prowess is no where near most of you - so I'll apologize right from the start...

I can't see how that coin could get more than an MS-64, Red given the number of marks it has. I'd be tempted to call it MS-63, but I am harder on these coins that most. Let's put it this way. If it were an Indian cent with that number of marks, would you still be thinking MS-64 or to some 65?

Thank you all for your comments. I'm in your camp 64 RD - RB - it's a little spotty and reverse almost resembles a light finger print on "One" that's has browned - kind of hard to see in the photo - as the luster is really nice on this coin.

I took a chance on it from a slab photo and only have about $7 in it, which is probably really more than it's worth.

The grade - PCI MS 67 RD :tonofbricks: - It's no wonder they fell apart as a TPG... It's almost like they graded this from arm's length without magnification, where it might resemble a 67.

Have a great weekend!

Todd
