Grade opinions on a 1945 Micro S Mercury Dime

7 posts in this topic

The technical grade is MS-66, but the dark toning across the top of the obverse concerns me. Even if the piece crosses to MS-66 in an NGC or PCGS holder, how many collectors are going to be willing to pay a strong price for it if it has eye appeal issues?

I see no value in crossing this coin. It is a nice coin, just leave it in the old ANACS holder. As others have posted it looks MS 66 , even if it was MS 67 the cost to cross is not worth it.

Thanks so far for everyone who has written an opinion. The actual grade of the coin is ANACS MS66 - as of right now I have no plans to cross it over...I think the only reason I might ever do that in the future is for consistency in my collection. But for now, it's safe and sound in a box...

Thanks again!
