Q: What temple is featured on the back of the 1975 Reserve Bank of India 1000 Rupee banknote (Pick# 65)?

The temple pictured is the Peruvudaiyar Kovil (also known as Brihadeeswarar Temple and Rajarajeswaram) at Thanjavur (formerly known as Tanjore during British rule) in the state of Tamil Nadu (formerly called Madras State until 1969.)

 

It is the world’s most complete granite temple.

A: Tanjore Temple also acceptable: The Peruvudaiyar Kovil (also known as Brihadeeswarar Temple)
