Process for Odd Shaped Coins???

I was thinking about odd shaped coins. For instance the Somalia guitar and motorcycle coins. And any other oddball shaped coins out there. Are these made from molds? Computer cut-outs? I would think it would be quite an endeavor to engrave dies for these things.

The die stock is the same regardless of the shape of the design.

 

The planchets have to be cut to the correct shape to fit the collar - just like round or square coins.

Thanks Roger. So are they pressed with an Obv and Rev dies like other coins at the same time?

Yep. Most have to be done on a multi-strike press.
