Help Grading my Kennedy'a

11 posts in this topic

Hi I need some help grading these Kennedy's.

In hand th look flawless, and also with my loop.

They where graded by a no name slabber, and where graded 70.

I bought the coin not the holder. I was very shockers when I got them.

They relay are beautiful.

I am going to crack them open and put them my album.

That is why I made them so big

so what would you grade them?

Thanks

Alan

Hard to grade from the pics.

Ditto, They all appear to be cameo Proof coins, but nailing down PR-67, 68, 69 and 70 from photos is almost impossible, and these photos are way too blurry.

yes they deff look cameo proof

not sure if I would put them in an album though? do people put proofs in albums?

i would just think bc of how easy it would be to put a fingerprint on them etc.

all in all , they are very nice looking Kennedy's , i think the 78 is the best looking.

all S' mint's so im assuming they are silver as well.

pretty nice.

edit: to be honest , i wouldnt be surprised if they are deep cameo as well. especially the obverse on some of em.

Sorry the coins aren’t silver. One of my unique numismatic superpowers is the ability to weight coins based only on their pictures. Unfortunately, it looks like each of the coins weights approximately 11.34 grams. They are too light to be silver: 90% silver half dollars weight about 12.5 grams each. The coins are clad proofs. … The fact that the San Francisco Mint didn’t produce any silver half dollars these years also tends to support my contention …

Even if/when images are excellent, it is generally impossible to grade Proof coins accurately from them. That is because in a large majority of cases, the grade is determined by the number and extent of hairlines, which are not (fully) apparent in images.

There could also be pinpoint-sized nicks or flaws in the frost that won't show up unless you tilt the coin back and forth under the light so that these flaws sparkle like little stars.

They're all proofs.

Shrink, and focus the pics in and we might be able to put a fractional grade to that.

Thanks everyone.

I will redo the pictures, and re post them when I get time.

Sorry for the bad pictures

Alan

It's ok, Alan, they're just a little blurry. They really look nice, though. Nice and frosty. :cloud9:
