2007 P Jefferson Nickel Struck Twice With Mirror Images

9 posts in this topic

I've always had an interest in coins and have been a member for awhile, but I am no where near educated on error coins. Could someone give me an idea on the rarity and value of this coin? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That is not a mint-made error. That looks like someone took your nickel, placed it between two other nickels to make a nickel sandwich, and then whacked it with a hammer. Note the secondary images are both incuse into the surface. They are also both reverse images. There is no way that I can think of that this coin would be made at the mint.

Thus, you have a damaged nickel worth 5 cents.

hammer or vice jobs can be detected usually with coin in hand

you have removed your pics, but here are a couple pics from an eBay auction in NGC slab with incuse designs
