Romania 2,000 Lei

 

In celebration of the total solar eclipse of August 11, 1999, the National Bank of Romania (BNR) decided to issue a commemorative two thousand Romanian lei banknote.

This was the last total eclipes of the millenium and visible across Southern Romania. The Denomination of 2000 was chosen to reflect the upcoming year "2000"

I think it was the 1990 Swiss 10 Frank note, which had a space capsule and the solar system on the back and an image of famed Swiss astronomer and physicist Leonhard Euler on the face.

A. Romania – Because the last solar eclipse of the millennium was most visible from Romania.
