NEWP: 1655 Ferdinand III (1637-1657) Taler

5 posts in this topic

This one arrived yesterday from the Bowers - Stack's Auction. Ferdinand III issues from the Vienna mint do not surface as often in high grades as they do from the Kremnitz mint. Both share a crude minting process relative to the more advanced Hall mint technology of the time.

Very nice. Did you win anything at the HA.com CICF auction?

I got back from CICF today. It was exhausting writing so many checks. :(

Sadly, I have no images to show anyone. Most of my newps are with GM who will send them to NGC for grading. The only newp I took home with me is a 1/3T Salzburg 1609, NGC MS64. It was an impulse buy from GM.

You got to show me the Salzburg piece - a fractional in MS is always a treat!

Strassberg, not Salzburg. It's a 1605 I believe.
