Lincoln collectors, help me out with this coin, what's up with the date?

I was going through some old mint sets I have for a Buddy of mine on this forum, and I ran across this coin. It caught my eye as it is quite nice, with some really pretty tone, so I imaged it. I was looking at the images of this coin and I noticed the date looked kinda funny, so I enlarged it to take a better look and it looks as there is the remnant of another date in there. Under the last "5" in the date I can see what looks to be what's left of another digit, and also under the "1". I also notice there is some vigorous die polishing in and around the date.

I do not collect Lincolns and know very little about them, but this one looks funny to me. Any thoughts??? And thanks for any help...Joe

Looks like hits and a die chip to me, not another date.

Yeah it would be odd to counterfeit that date.
