Has anyone actually seen the 5-ounce quarter coasters?

I am just curious, the only images I've seen seem to be computer generated, and thus not real coins. Has anyone actually seen one of these? What do they look like? Are the surfaces lustrous, or mirrored? How big are they really?

Saw them at the FUN show. At least one dealer had multiple sets certified by NGC. The reverses look okay, but those obverses are incredibly awful.

I saw a few of them today. They are mirrored finish, and I have to say they look absolutely ridiculous. A nice design like the grand canyon one is alright, but the hot springs quarter is hideous. And then as TomB said, the obverse is just hilariously bad. Put that all in an NGC slab the size of a coffee table, and you have one hot mess.

They look better than the actual size quarters, especially the proofs, in that they are more detailed, but they're still kind of odd. They're going for over $4000 for the set of 5 in 69 holders. Not my thing.

Yea, I saw them in cases at the FUN show.

Frankly I was so absorbed in filling my want list, I didn’t give them much mind. To me they are as interesting as silver bars, and the only silver bars that get me to wax romantic are the ones that were issued for Christmases past, which takes me back to some pleasant memories when my parents were still alive.

As for the others, my only question is, “What is their melt value?” These giant quarters are for those who have not grown to appreciate the better things in this hobby.

Bill, I agree and I just sold the last of the Christmas (Sterling) 1000 grain bars that I had. The last one was dated 1972 and I lost track of it for several years, in its little white box, and that is why I still had it. It was my last and sold for $28/ounce.
