1928 and 1919 walker halfs......grade?

Those are both G 06. If I had to choose, I'd say the 1919 is ever so slightly better. the 1919 comes much sharper than the '28 S, however.

 

Combined value is about $30.00. A dealer would give you about $26.00.

 

Those are both good, low mintage Early Dates, though. The 1919 is the scarcer of the two.

I wouldn't be surprised to see either get a VG-8...the 28-S is a bit sharper but the 1919 with its full date and complete rims is a bit higher possibly since the pre-1921 Walkers don't wear as well....

My experience has been that early Walkers look the virtually identical on the obverse between grades of AG-3 to VG-10, and must be graded by the level of wing detail on the reverse. Thus, my slightly higher grade for the 1928-S.
