Visual Registry

Now that NGC has been imaging graded coins since 2008, is there hope of someday having a visual registry, where members can view NGC graded coins of a specific type, year, mintmark, and grade?

We already have the option to upload images. If the owner wants you to see the coins, then they'll provide the images. That's all that's required.

Yes, if you can view images per a users registry set.

 

But what if you wanted to see all the 1922 Peace MS-67's at once, regardless of owner?

 

The data and information already exist, just a matter of writing a query and presenting the data in a new format.

I think the images that have been saved by NGC are their property and cannot be used in places like the registry and are for reference purposes only. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Agreed. But since this would be their tool (Visual Registry), and the members would have no editing capability to the tool whatsoever, there would be no copyright issues at all. It would be purely reference only. DGS had this feature, IIRC. Don't know if it was patented.
