1935 Buff - Cracked Planchet?

That is more properly termed a Lamination. A Cracked Planchet must go all the way through - a lamination is when a layer peels off like you have shown. They are pretty cool, especially when they are large like that, but not worth a whole lot. Especially on nickel coins, where they are fairly common.

It's a classic lamination, although the process that causes a lamination can also cause a cracked planchet.

 

It makes me think of what can happen as depicted in the made-for-television show, Life After People when everything disintegrates from lack of maintenance. (shrug)
