i do not have the coin in hand at this point.

i just happened to catch it on e-bay with 19 seconds to go.

i really liked the way it looked.

i have several, but none this pretty.

how do you judge it has been cleaned?

i am not doubting your opinion, just wanting to learn.

do you think $45 was too much to pay for a coin such as this?

scans are extremely deceiving it might be the scan

the scan makes the coin look washed out dipped/cleaned

it might be or might not

also you cant tell if the coin is lusterous or not

just hard to tell from scans after second thought i should have not commented on this coin from the scan

This series is not know for being very lustrous, or for good strike. From the scan (who can tell from a scan), the coin does not look cleaned. The copper stains on the surface are pretty typical for this series.

Let us know what you think when you receive the coin.

The scan makes the coin look like a nice original AU55 to me. As others say, hard to tell from a scan, so please let us know when it comes back!

Keep in mind that the coin is in one of those cardboard flips, and that the coin is covered by a thin sheet of cellophane-type material that will distort the "look" normally associated with cleaning or luster.

This coin may be XF on a good day. There's too much hair missing due to wear for it to be an AU. Agree w Old Trader re the copper spots; they're very common on Liberty Nickels. Actually, most Uncs and many PF Liberty Nickels I've seen have this coloring. The coin has a pleasing appearance.
