same thing with this one...overgraded at auction and I am sure I paid too much on this one, but learned something... Please explain why the grade, I am making a photo cheat sheet for future reference.

XF-45 details, but the brownish discoloration looks like something from a bad dip, so I think this coin is somewhat too cleaned to be certified.

EF-45, No lustre, big wear to major areas and halo effect around stars etc, indicates previous clean/harsh dip...,

Had it marked MS-62, I overpaid on this one....paid $45. Still learned a lot during the auction though and appreciate the tips.

Most 1890-P's had very poor strikes and little luster. Aside from the poor eye-appeal I'd say this is a typical MS grade coin for this issue. Nasty scratch though.
