It just looks different than other worn pieces - the contrast between the fields and the devices have a different look

I think you would be hard pressed to ever prove a VG-10 ever had “Proof Like” fields. By the time you got to this state, all evidence of any type of mirroring would be long gone, even in protected areas.

A mirror surface Morgan dollar quickly loses its mirrors when circulated. However, vestiges will remain in protected areas of inscriptions. Look there, to see if it was once a mirror surface coin.
