A guido is a Capped Bust Half that, when only in planchet form, was cranked through the edge lettering machine incorrectly and did not make a complete revolution between the bar dies. This means it is an edge-lettering error.

Answer:

This is a lettered edge coin of the Liberty Bust era that did not fully pass through the lettering machine, leaving two slightly bulged areas on its edge that lack the lettering.

Our first place winner Dan8402 will receive David W. Langes “The complete Guide to Buffalo Nickels, Third Edition” signed by David W. Lange. There was no runner up this week.
