New Washington Quarter...........Bruce?

Just came in the mail while I was home for lunch. The coin is very lusterous. I won this in a live ebay auction for $350 plus juice. The photos were not very good, so I was a bit worried that I might get some cleaned POS. This does have a nice early (Jan 1981) Anacs certificate. Check out the MM, it is quite strange. I'm not sure what is goin on with it. What would you grade it, and what do you think Anacs graded it in 1981.

Beautiful coin, JJ. This may be an RPM-001 stage C with die break through Eagles right wing(have never seen a photo so it may go through the beak) and D/D west. I would assume that ANACS would have graded this coin MS64 in the 80's, but then that's just my opinion. It should be at least an MS65. Great pickup.

It looks like mechanical doubling on the mintmark and it is likely MS63.

I am at MS-63 on this coin. The mintmark was skewed during the striking of the coin, and it is not all that unusual a phenomenon.

Mintmark is damaged. Something has hit and scraped it from left to right. What I find more interesting is what appear to be lathe marks to the left of the mintmark area from the stem through the first couple leaves.

I am giving it a solid ms64 with a chance at 65 cause I bet it is better in hand. Show us/tell us what the old anacs holder said.

I say 64 on a good day. Grading is stricter on key dates like this one. Great coin though
