yesterday i noticed that the u.s. mint stopped production of gold coins.what does this mean for collectors,and do you think the mint is getting low on gold?

They didn't really stop production as far as I know, they just removed almost everything from their website. There was an announcement a few days ago that many product options were being discontinued, so this may have had something to do with it. Heck, they may have just sold out of everything (doubtful). I really don't know for sure what happened.

If I recall, they couldn't get a steady and reliable supply of the gold blanks to meet the demand for the coins.

looks like all the indicators for the short term are way lower gold prices

 

into the lower six hundreds

 

time will tell
