The American numismatist was M.L. Beistle. His full name

was Martin Luther Beistle. His book, of course, was "The

Register of Half Dollar Die Varieties and Sub-Varieties."

Beistle's firm published his book in 1929, based on his

own half dollar collection.

Martin Luther Beistle was awarded U.S. patent

number 1,719,962 for the Unique brand coin album. This patent was

later sold to Wayte Raymond, who marketed these albums through Scott

Stamp and Coin Company as the National brand.

I believe the answer you are looking for is Martin Luther Beistle or M. L. Beistle from Shippensburg, PA.

Mr. Beistle invented the slide type coin album in 1929 marketed by Wayte Raymond.

Mr. Beistle also published his "Register of Half Dollar Varieties and Sub-Varieties" in 1929.
