I really can't say which coins merit the star designation and which don't. There was a thread just recently (last 2 weeks?) with a discussion about this. One of the comments mentioned that many coins received the star because they had exceptional eye appeal for the obverse or the reverse, but not for both sides.

It is a nice one but based on the stars I've seen I don't think it's quite there personally. However, I've seen that there is some variability in what's considered a star.

Does not look good enough for a star if you ask me. Its nice, just not nice enough.

Nice coin, but the colors... in my opinion only... aren't vivid enough to get the coveted star designation.

When it comes to STARS you need a coin that just jumps out at you, tickling your visual senses, something you just don't see on normal coins. If the toning on this one had a bit more color as in reds, magentas, purples or blues, I would think you'd have a winner.

 

But then again, what the heck do I know?

I like the Roosie a lot, but the color may not be sufficiently drammatic to warrant a star designation.
