At what point would you worry about an NGC package being lost?

I had three coins sent to me from NGC on July 11th that have yet to arrive. I know Registered mail is ultra slow these days, but is it getting to be a bit crazy? (The USPS website simply states the coin was sent/processed on the 11th).

Two weeks isn't totally unheard of, but it is way longer than normal. Last time I had a package take that long I called NGC and was told the item had already been delivered in OHIO. An hour later I got a call back from NGC and they were retrieving the package for me. Everything went smoothly from there.

Pat, just yesterday I picked up a registered package (not yours, I promise) at my PO which had been sitting there 2 days. The on-line tracking information indicated it hadn't even left the city of origin, because my PO didn't bother to scan it in when they received it. A clerk at that very PO had been trying to help me locate it and wasn't even aware it had arrived there. :frustrated:

I would be worried but that becuase usually there is only a 1-3 day delay from the time NGC e-mails me and let's me know the coins have been shipped to the time the arrive at my doorstep. I guess I am spoiled since I live in Orlando (shrug)

Sounds good guys.

By the way Shane, you'd love this three coin deal:

1957-D RB MS67*

1957-D RB MS67*

1956 RB MS67

I'll have photos upon their return.

I used to work for the USPS and i would say that 80% of the employees are overworked.

i live on the east coast and a NGC registered from Florida usually takes 4 days. But when i did business with PCI in GA. it would take 12 to 14 days? go figure.

Well, came home from work and still no package yet an auction won at about the same time that shipped from Belgium arrived.

If it's not here by Saturday I guess I'll call NGC. Anyone have their number?

Maybe they have a web site?

Their Saturday staff is lacking. You may want to wait until Monday.

Oh, OK, try 800-NGC-COIN.

Ok, ok... you got me in a weak moment... I did try and get the number to Paypal earlier in the week and that was a hassle and a half.

Leave it to NGC to provide a simple and easy number!

NGC sends out an E Mail when they send your package. In that E Mail they give the number of the Registered package. It starts wit RE and ends in US.

You will be able to take that number and go to the USPS site and out that number in and it will tell you when the package was accepted and when it was delivered if it has been delivered/

Yes, you'd think. I tried that (as written above) and the package shows being processed out of Florida on July 11th with no updates since then.

Take that number to your PO and they can track it better. They always do that for me.

Will do. I'm mailing off a bunch of stuff tomorrow anyway.

I have always tracked it via the SPS site with no problem. Of course, I live in North Florida. Even then it takes thre or four Business days.If it shows that it was accepted by the USPS with no further updates then it was lost in the system. If it was dleivered then somebody had to sign for it as it is Registered.

I've been working with my step-father today to figure out what happened to a $3000 package that was shipped over-night from central Florida. The insufficiently_thoughtful_person mail carrier tried to deliver the package to a different house on another street.... The local Post Master was VERY apologetic to my step-father and the package was delivered VERY quickly. :)

Good luck finding your package.

Worried? Probably never. Registered mail is so safe the idea of a package not making it to you eventually is almost unheard of. (I am assuming it was sent Registered.) I wouldn't even start asking about it for thirty days.

This story has a happy ending. At the post office to mail off a bunch of stuff I asked the clerk to check this Registered package giving her a copy of the NGC mail receipt.

She quickly returned with package in hand. Yes. The package has been sitting, safe and sound, in their safe for about a week now.

Why? It's the same address that is all over my eBay auctions ("My World"). Never an issue.

Most peoples addresses are so easy to obtain we are not fooling anyone by keeping it a "secret".

I would welcome any visitors to my home, no problem.
