jackson64. Here is a bit more information about your coins.

The 1 peso coin from the Dominican Republic commemorates the 500th Anniversary of discovery and "Evangilazation". It is identified as KM-66 and has a catalog value of $2.50 in Uncirculated condition. Mintage was 150,000 if it is the copper/nickel coin. The silver one of the same design (KM 66a) had a mintage of 10,000 and has a catalog value of $18.50. I can't tell if yours is c/n or silver.

Your anchor coin is from Spain. It is KM# 777. Though dated 1949, it was really minted between 1951-1963. You have to look through magnification at the star because the real year of mintage, (the last 2 digits) are found there. Pretty small numbers. The 63 is the scarcest with a value of $9 and a mintage of 4,000,000. The other dates are relatively common and range from 20 cents to $5 catalog value. If you can find the 2 digits, post here and I'll tell you specific values of your coin.

...any thoughts or comments???

My only comment is that I like them quite a lot, and I think your thematic efforts are excellent.
