Updating Prez Proof Pictures

10 posts in this topic

I'm replacing the pictures of my presidential proof dollars (that I took about 2 weeks ago) with some new ones that I think are much better. :) Let me know what you think.

If I did this right the old pics will be on top and the newer ones are on bottom.

Kind of a little one way and the other. The top a little over-exposed and the bottom a little under-exposed. Are you doing these for your registry? Here's a pic I do for mine.

I think the bottom is much improved over the top in terms of you can actually tell what you're looking at, but I still don't think they're that great. It looks like you're shooting at a fairly high ISO given the color noise in the holder, which could be part of your problem. But, I do realize that shooting through a slab is a royal pain in the behind.

ISO is at 400. Shutterspeed is 1/80. If I try again, what would you recommend?

I'm using a 6.1 MP Kodak Z650. It has some limitations but it's the best that I'm going to have available for the foreseeable future.

ok. Here are some Gen 3 pictures. :) The camera got some background color noise in the field, but I think this is getting closer.

I like those rev. They are looking better. If that's lint on the slabs, you may want to invest in a can of compressed air to dust just before snapping. Nice pics!
